Fabric

Description

Our blend of 50% Lenzing Tencel Luxe + 50% Lenzing Tencel makes this cellulose fabric silky and soft, with a gorgeous drape and light feel next to the skin. The material is commissioned by our "fabric composer", Mr. Mozart, who has spent the past 12 years building the most sustainable Tencel dye house and treatment centre possible. The yarns are brought in directly from Lenzing in Austria. The Tencel is spun in Wuxi and then woven with the un-spun Tencel Luxe in Suzhou where the looms can work with extremely fine filament fibres. It is finally brought back in-house to Mozartex where it is dyed using low impact dyes and treated wastewater.

Thread

Description

100% Cradle 2 Cradle Gold certified, Tencel Lyocell sewing thread. This plant-based, biodegradable thread is strong and colour fast, with a supply chain to write home about. The Tencel fibres are created from eucalyptus tree pulp in Austria, then spun + dyed in Switzerland using low impact dyes.

Elastic

Description

Our elastic is pretty amazing. It's been created from biodegradable polymers by a German innovator and manufacturer. The technology was developed to replace traditionally synthetic building blocks (like elastic and labels) and is certified by C2C, plus it's been recognised for its innovation in sustainability and circular design.

Label

Description

100% recycled polyester made in-house by a manufacturer with a passion for developing sustainable alternatives for brands. This is the only part of the garment that isn’t biodegradable. Things get better! In 2019 we developed an organic cotton alternative, a first of its kind on the market. From A.31 onwards, all garments will be 100% cellulosic (meaning completely synthetic-free!)

Care Label

Description

100% GOTS organic cotton. When we started A.BCH in 2017, there were no organic cotton label options. In 2019, we were able to make the switch to digitally printed, 100% GOTS organic care labels which are now found on most of our garments.

End of Life

Recycling

To recycle this garment, send it back to us for store credit. We'll even cover shipping! Depending on its condition, we'll repair & re-sell it (as second hand) OR transform it into brand new yarns through our recycling program (so circular, darling).

Compost

If returning is unlikely (you're busy with a climate rally or living off the grid), these shorties are 99.5% compostable (elastic and all). After a long life of use, repair and re-use, simply remove the A.BCH tag before cutting the rest into strips, safe for anaerobic composting at home or commercially.
