Product Story

Make

Description

The A.59 is made in-house at the A.BCH circular factory. Our entire factory and HQ operate on 100% renewable wind power and we carbon offset our energy use. The fabric is first laid and cut with minimal waste, pieces are then sewn by our team of skilled machinists. Each garment is trimmed for excess threads and pressed before being sent to you. Our Cut, Make, Trim operations are accredited by Ethical Clothing Australia.

Fabric

Description

Light Blue Marle: 170gm jersey made from a blend of 50% organic cotton + 50% recycled cotton. The yarn originates in Spain from local cotton offcuts and industrial waste which are collected, scientifically colour sorted based on projected waste inputs, and then mechanically shredded before being blended in the spinning process with lush organic fibres for extra strength. There are no additional dyes aded and the yarns are certified by the Global Recycled Standard and Organic Content Standard. The finished recycled yarns are knitted locally with our mill partner into a beautiful, soft, mid-weight jersey.

Undyed: An Australian story we love. Australian Super Cotton is grown in St. George, Queensland from a single origin farm. The cotton is grown to some of the highest sustainability standards in the world, with its farmers leading the way with water conservation and pest management. The cotton was ginned locally before being spun, and then sent to Victoria for knitting. The fabric is prepared and scoured with before being sent to us for Cut, Make Trim (CMT). The entire process from paddock to product is stewarded by Full Circle Fibres.

Packaging

Compost

Our default packaging for local orders, home-compostable satchels have the lowest environmental impact when composted locally. Please don't throw this into your general waste bin, instead, after re-use, compost at home or find other solutions here. You can contact us immediately after placing your order to request recyclable packing instead.

Recycled

For extra fragile goods, or international orders, we use 100% post-consumer waste recycled and RECYCLABLE satchels, boxes and tissue paper. After re-use, these can go into your curb-side paper recycling bin.

Care

Laundering

Organic and recycled fibres need just a little more TLC than conventional ones. Machine wash on COLD, use a delicates bag for best results and hang to dry. We'll also send a detailed digital care guide when you buy this garment. Keep a look out in your inbox.

Repairs

We stand by our garments + offer complimentary repairs for all A.BCH pieces. Our free repairs are for general wear and tear, all we ask is that you cover the cost of delivery or drop off to our Melbourne studio. Re-making or alterations can also be requested + will be individually quoted based on the time required.

End of Life

Recirculate

Help extend the life of the A.59 by sending or dropping it back to us for store credit – we'll even cover the shipping. Depending on its condition, we'll repair & re-sell it (as second hand), remake it into something or if it's no longer useful, we'll transform it into brand new yarns through our Recycling Program (so circular, darling).

Recycle

The A.59 was specifically designed for easy mechanical or cellulose chemical recycling. Send or drop it back to us for store credit, we'll even cover shipping. Once received and assessed, the garment is washed and prepared for mechanical recycling. The yarns we create from this process will become feedstock for future A.BCH styles.

Biodegrade

If returning is unlikely (you're busy with a climate rally or living off the grid), the A.59 is also biodegradable. After a long life of use, repair and re-use, simply cut up the garment into smaller pieces and place in your home composting system or garden soil.
