Product Story

Make

Description

The A.54 is made in-house at the A.BCH circular factory. Our entire factory and HQ operate on 100% renewable wind power and we carbon offset our energy use. The fabric is first laid and cut with minimal waste, pieces are then sewn by our team of skilled machinists. Each garment is trimmed for excess threads and pressed before being sent to you. Our operations are accredited by Ethical Clothing Australia.

Fabric

Description

Our blend of 50% Lenzing Tencel Luxe + 50% Lenzing Tencel makes this cellulose fabric silky and soft, with a gorgeous drape and light feel next to the skin. The material is commissioned by our "fabric composer", Mr. Mozart, who has spent the past 12 years building the most sustainable Tencel dye house and treatment centre possible. The yarns are brought in directly from Lenzing in Austria. The Tencel is spun in Wuxi and then woven with the un-spun Tencel Luxe in Suzhou where the looms can work with extremely fine filament fibres. It is finally brought back in-house to Mozartex where it is dyed using low impact dyes and treated wastewater.

Packaging

Compost

Our default packaging for local orders, home-compostable satchels have the lowest environmental impact when composted locally. Please don't throw this into your general waste bin, instead, after re-use, compost at home or find other solutions here. You can contact us immediately after placing your order to request recyclable packing instead.

Recycled

For extra fragile goods, or international orders, we use 100% post-consumer waste recycled and RECYCLABLE satchels, boxes and tissue paper. After re-use, these can go into your curb-side paper recycling bin.

Care

Laundering

Tencel fibres need just a little TLC, just like real silk does. Machine wash on COLD and use a delicates bag to keep this fabric from marking. Hang to dry. We'll also send a detailed digital care guide when you buy this garment.

Repairs

We stand by our garments + offer complimentary repairs for all A.BCH pieces. Our free repairs are for general wear and tear, all we ask is that you cover the cost of delivery or drop off to our Melbourne studio. Re-making or alterations can also be requested + will be individually quoted based on the time required.

End of Life

Recirculate

Help extend the life of the A.54 by sending or dropping it back to us for store credit – we'll even cover the shipping. Depending on its condition, we'll repair & re-sell it (as second hand), remake it into something or if it's no longer useful, we'll transform it into brand new yarns through our Recycling Program (so circular, darling).

Recycle

The A.54 was specifically designed for easy mechanical or cellulose chemical recycling and this is its preferred afterlife pathway. Send or drop it back to us for store credit, we'll even cover the shipping. Once received and assessed, the garment is washed and prepared for mechanical recycling. The yarns we create from this process will become feedstock for future A.BCH styles.

Biodegrade

If returning is unlikely (you're busy with a climate rally or living off the grid), the A.54 is also biodegradable as a last resort. After a long life of use, repair and re-use, simply cut the garment into smaller pieces and bury in your garden soil - elastic and all. The A.54 should decompose in 4-8 weeks, depending on conditions.
