Product Story
Make
Description
The A.25 is made to order, in-house at the A.BCH circular factory. Our entire production and HQ operations rely on 100% renewable wind power and we carbon offset our energy use. Your fabric is first laid and cut with minimal waste, pieces are then sewn by our team of skilled machinists. Each garment is trimmed for excess threads and pressed before being sent to you. Our operations are accredited by Ethical Clothing Australia.

Fabric
Description
100% GOTS Organic Cotton Gauze. Fibres are grown, spun and yarn dyed in Turkey where they are certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) to meet strict environmental, toxicity and social standards. The yarns are delivered to Osaka, Japan where they are woven in world-class facilities. We purchase the final product through an Osaka based agency that source from a Japanese fabric wholesaler. Our goal is to work more directly with the weaver as we grow our minimum orders.

Buttons
Description
100% corozo fruit seed, sourced sustainably from Panama City, Panama. Once the fruit has fallen from the tree, the seeds are collected and processed for button making. The buttons are designed, manufactured and dyed in-house by our supplier, using only non-toxic, biodegradable dyestuffs.

Fusing
Description
100% brushed cotton - notably formaldehyde free and affixed with a resin. Removal of fusing before recycling or composting is recommended due to the unknown degradability of the resin. Made in Germany, stocked and shipped from the manufacturer’s factory in Hong Kong. This is a far better solution than the industry standard polyester, but our goal is to find an even more sustainable alternative in the near future.

Label
Description
100% recycled PET made in-house by a manufacturer with a passion for developing sustainable alternatives for brands. This is the only part of the garment that isn’t biodegradable. There's good news! In 2019 we developed a way to make these labels in organic cotton which feature in garments from A.31 onwards.

100% organic cotton, printed with Oeko Tex 100 certified inks. The yarns are sourced in India from GOTS certified mills and are woven at our supplier-owned mill into tape. They are then whitened according to GOTS standards using oxygen based whiteners and digitally printed.

Packaging
Compost
Our default packaging for local orders, home-compostable satchels have the lowest environmental impact when composted locally. Please don't throw this into your general waste bin, instead, after re-use, compost at home or find other solutions here. You can contact us immediately after placing your order to request recyclable packing instead.
Recycled
For extra fragile goods, or international orders, we use 100% post-consumer waste recycled and RECYCLABLE satchels, boxes and tissue paper. After re-use, these can go into your curb-side paper recycling bin.
Care
Laundering
Organic fibres need just a little more TLC than conventional ones. Machine wash on COLD, use a delicates bag for best results and hang to dry. We'll also send a detailed digital care guide when you buy this garment.
Repairs
We stand by our garments + offer complimentary repairs for all A.BCH pieces. Our free repairs are for general wear and tear, all we ask is that you cover the cost of delivery or drop off to our Melbourne studio. Re-making or alterations can also be requested + will be individually quoted based on the time required.
End of Life
Recirculate
Help extend the life of the A.25 by sending or dropping it back to us for store credit – we'll even cover the shipping. Depending on its condition, we'll repair & re-sell it (as second hand), remake it into something or if it's no longer useful, we'll transform it into brand new yarns through our Recycling Program (so circular, darling).
Recycle
With some decommissioning, the A.25 was specifically designed for easy mechanical or cellulose chemical recycling and this is its preferred afterlife pathway. Send or drop it back to us for store credit, we'll even cover the shipping. Once received and assessed, the garment is washed and prepared for mechanical recycling. The yarns we create from this process will become feedstock for future A.BCH styles.
Biodegrade
The A.25 requires minor decommissioning (including removal of the waistband and A.BCH A.25 label) before being ready to biodegrade. Also, while the cellulose buttons are biodegradable, we would opt for re-use unless they are broken. We highly recommend sending this piece back to us so we can appropriately recycle it however as a last resort, this garment can be self-decommissioned, cut into smaller pieces and buried in your garden soil. The A.25 should biodegrade within 4-8 weeks, depending on conditions, noting buttons may take longer to decompose.
