Product Story
Make
Description
The A.11 was made entirely in-house by the A.BCH team at our HQ in Victoria. We cut the fabric with zero waste, constructed the piece, pressed it and trimmed it for excess threads. The warp remnants from the frayed hem were salvaged for embroidery and paper-making.

Fabric
Description
100% hemp, grown and spun in China. Spun yarns are sent to Belgium, where they’re woven in a C02 neutral mill and then dyed. Our Belgian supplier has been creating linen since 1864 and are recognised by The Masters of Linen, they also frequently work with hemp. Hemp is notoriously difficult to trace back to origin, and although the transparency for our hemp is not up to speed, we are working to improve it as we grow. We think this fibre is super important for the future and are dedicated to supporting its cultivation, with the aim of achieving full transparency for this fibre in the year ahead.

Label
Description
100% recycled polyester made in-house by a manufacturer with a passion for developing sustainable alternatives for brands. This is the only part of the garment that isn’t biodegradable. Our goal is to someday soon make our own biodegradable woven labels, but until that glorious day, please remove this tag before composting!

Packaging
Compost
Our default packaging for local orders, home-compostable satchels have the lowest environmental impact when composted locally. Please don't throw this into your general waste bin, instead, after re-use, compost at home or find other solutions here. You can contact us immediately after placing your order to request recyclable packing instead.
Recycled
For extra fragile goods, or international orders, we use 100% post-consumer waste recycled and RECYCLABLE satchels, boxes and tissue paper. After re-use, these can go into your curb-side paper recycling bin.
Care
Laundering
Organic fibres need just a little more TLC than conventional ones. Machine wash on COLD, use a delicates bag for best results and hang to dry. We'll also send a detailed digital care guide when you buy this garment.
Repairs
We stand by our garments + offer complimentary repairs for all A.BCH pieces. Our free repairs are for general wear and tear, all we ask is that you cover the cost of delivery or drop off to our Melbourne studio. Re-making or alterations can also be requested + will be individually quoted based on the time required.
End of Life
Recirculate
Help extend the life of the A.11 by sending or dropping it back to us for store credit – we'll even cover the shipping. Depending on its condition, we'll repair & re-sell it (as second hand), remake it into something or if it's no longer useful, we'll transform it into brand new yarns through our Recycling Program (so circular, darling).
Recycle
The A.11 was specifically designed for easy mechanical or cellulose chemical recycling. Send or drop it back to us for store credit, we'll even cover the shipping. Once received and assessed, the garment is washed and prepared for mechanical recycling. The yarns we create from this process will become feedstock for future A.BCH styles.
Biodegrade
If returning is unlikely (you're busy with a climate rally or living off the grid), the A.11 is also biodegradable. After a long life of use, repair and re-use, simply cut off the A.BCH A.11 tag (not biodegradable) before cutting the rest of the scarf into smaller pieces and burying in your garden soil. The A.11 should biodegrade within 8-12 weeks, depending on conditions.
