Product Story

Make

Description

The A.15 is made either at our partner factory in Sunshine West, Victoria or in-house at the A.BCH circular factory. Our manufacturing partners are independently certified by Ethical Clothing Australia. The entire A.BCH factory and HQ operations rely on 100% renewable wind power and we carbon offset our energy use. The fabric is first laid and cut with minimal waste, pieces are then sewn by our team of skilled machinists. Each garment is trimmed and pressed before being sent to you. Our operations are accredited by Ethical Clothing Australia..

Fabric

Description

Colours (Organic Cotton):
Two fabrics make up the A.15, the main fabric is a mid-weight (145gsm) 100% GOTS + ACO certified organic cotton jersey. The second is a ribbed fabric used for the neck collar. Both have the same growing, processing and dyeing origins, with the only difference being how they are knitted. The fibre is grown, processed and spun in India, and is certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) at every stage from processing to finishing to meet strict environmental, toxicity and social standards. The yarns are dyed using GOTS approved low impact dyes and are knitted into fabric at one of the last remaining knitting factories in Australia, located just outside of Melbourne
.

Undyed (Recycled/Organic Cotton):
Our recycled undyed jersey is made from 50% organic cotton and 50% recycled pre-consumer cotton waste (like offcuts and spinning waste). The waste and organic cotton is processed and then spun into yarn at Recover in Spain - fibres are certified by Organic Cotton Standard and Recycled Content Standard respectively. The spun yarns are brought into Australia where we knit it into a lush 180gsm jersey.

Packaging

Compost

Our default packaging for local orders, home-compostable satchels have the lowest environmental impact when composted locally. Please don't throw this into your general waste bin, instead, after re-use, compost at home or find other solutions here. You can contact us immediately after placing your order to request recyclable packing instead.

Recycled

For extra fragile goods, or international orders, we use 100% post-consumer waste recycled and RECYCLABLE satchels, boxes and tissue paper. After re-use, these can go into your curb-side paper recycling bin.

Care

Laundering

Organic fibres need just a little more TLC than conventional ones. Machine wash on COLD, use a delicates bag for best results and hang to dry. We'll also send a detailed digital care guide when you buy this garment.

Repairs

We stand by our garments + offer complimentary repairs for all A.BCH pieces. Our free repairs are for general wear and tear, all we ask is that you cover the cost of delivery or drop off to our Melbourne studio. Re-making or alterations can also be requested + will be individually quoted based on the time required.

End of Life

Recirculate

Help extend the life of the A.15 by sending or dropping it back to us for store credit – we'll even cover the shipping. Depending on its condition, we'll repair & re-sell it (as second hand), remake it into something or if it's no longer useful, we'll transform it into brand new yarns through our Recycling Program (so circular, darling).

Recycle

The A.15 was specifically designed for easy mechanical or cellulose chemical recycling and this is its preferred afterlife pathway. Send or drop it back to us for store credit, we'll even cover the shipping. Once received and assessed, the garment is washed and prepared for mechanical recycling. The yarns we create from this process will become feedstock for future A.BCH styles.

Biodegrade

If returning is unlikely (you're busy with a climate rally or living off the grid), the A.15 is also biodegradable as a last resort. After a long life of use, repair and re-use, simply cut the garment into smaller pieces and bury in your garden soil. The A.15 should biodegrade entirely within 4-8 weeks, depending on conditions.
