A.BCH A.55
Product Story
Make
Description
The A.55 is made in-house at the A.BCH circular factory. Our entire production and HQ operations rely on 100% renewable wind power and we carbon offset our energy use. The fabric is first laid and cut with minimal waste, pieces are then sewn by our team of skilled machinists. Each garment is trimmed, quality checked and pressed before being sent to you. Our operations are accredited by Ethical Clothing Australia.

Fabric
Description
100% certified organic cotton 325gm, 1x1 rib. The fibre is grown, processed and spun into yarns in India and then shipped to our local knitting mill. Here the yarn is knitted in one of Australia's last knitting mills before being dyed using low-impact fibre reactive dyes at a local dye house.

Thread
Description
100% Tencel Lyocell, made from eucalyptus tree pulp, which is also FSC and Canopy verified. The fibre is created by Lenzing in Austria before being sent to Portugal for spinning into strong sewing threads. When combined with adapted stitching techniques, this thread is incredibly strong and durable, and the colourfast nature of Tencel means it will hold its colour over time and washes. Best of all, this thread (unlike industry standard polyester) is certified biodegradable in land and marine environments.

Bio Elastic
Description
Non-synthetic elastic? Yeah, it's a thing. Manufactured from 60% natural rubber for stretch and 40% undyed GOTS organic cotton in Austria, this elastic is strong and holds great shape over lots of wear and washes. Plus, it's totally compostable at the end of its life.

Packaging
Compost
Our default packaging for local orders, home-compostable satchels have the lowest environmental impact when composted locally. Please don't throw this into your general waste bin, instead, after re-use, compost at home or find other solutions here. You can contact us immediately after placing your order to request recyclable packing instead.
Recycled
For extra fragile goods, or international orders, we use 100% post-consumer waste recycled and RECYCLABLE satchels, boxes and tissue paper. After re-use, these can go into your curb-side paper recycling bin.
Care
Laundering
Organic fibres need just a little more TLC than conventional ones. Machine wash on COLD, use a delicates bag for best results and hang to dry. We'll also send a detailed digital care guide when you buy this garment.
Repairs
We stand by our garments + offer complimentary repairs for all A.BCH pieces. Our free repairs are for general wear and tear, all we ask is that you cover the cost of delivery or drop off to our Melbourne studio. Re-making or alterations can also be requested + will be individually quoted based on the time required.
End of Life
Recirculate
Help extend the life of the A.55 by sending or dropping it back to us for store credit – we'll even cover the shipping. Depending on its condition, we'll repair & re-sell it (as second hand), remake it into something or if it's no longer useful, we'll transform it into brand new yarns through our Recycling Program (so circular, darling).
Recycle
The A.55 was specifically designed for easy mechanical or cellulose chemical recycling. Send or drop it back to us for store credit, we'll even cover the shipping. Once received and assessed, the garment is washed and prepared for mechanical recycling. The yarns we create from this process will become feedstock for future A.BCH styles.
Biodegrade
If returning is unlikely (you're busy with a climate rally or living off the grid), the A.57 is also biodegradable, elastic and all – as a last resort. After a long life of use, repair and re-use, simply cut the top into smaller pieces and bury in your garden soil. The A.55 should biodegrade entirely within 4-8 weeks, depending on conditions.
