Description
The Cutpiece Asymmetrical Top was created from the selvedges and offcuts of our popular A.34 merino thermals (which are first created from surplus mill rolls). In order to honour the precious material of wool, we keep every single leftover scrap from the cutting process, which we then sort by size and colour palette. We hand place and stitch new textiles from these precious resources.
We call this textile production method 'Cutpiece' – a regenerated textile that is entirely unique to the individual garment and owner. Commissions for this style are welcome, as are customisation requests.
A.CAT features an asymmetrical hem with long, hyper exaggerated sleeves. It sits beautifully on the body due to the mimicking of 3D knitting in the construction method.

Product Story
Make
Description
The A.CAT was made in-house at the A.BCH circular factory. Our entire production and HQ operations rely on 100% renewable wind power and we carbon offset our energy use. Your fabric is first created by hand before being laid and cut with minimal waste (however all new waste can go back into this very process). Pieces are then sewn by our team of skilled machinists. Each garment is quality checked and pressed before being sent to you. Our operations are accredited by Ethical Clothing Australia.

Fabric
Description
100% Cutpiece from merino rib (mill surplus). This wool was originally grown and blended from ten farms from around Victoria and New South Wales in Australia. The wool fibre was purchased and combined by Fox & Lille Wool Brokers before being sent to Xin’ao in China to be processed and spun. Farms, broker and spinner are Responsible Wool Standard certified. These yarns are kept seperate from other wool, ensuring traceability from farm to product. Spun yarns were sent back to Victoria to our mill, MTK who knitted and dyed the fabrics locally. These fabrics were end of roll, mill surplus used to created the A.34 thermal style. We regenerate a new textile from the offcuts to create 'Cutpiece' a unique production process for working with offcuts.

Packaging
Compost
Our default packaging for local orders, home-compostable satchels have the lowest environmental impact when composted locally. Please don't throw this into your general waste bin, instead, after re-use, compost at home or find other solutions here. You can contact us immediately after placing your order to request recyclable packing instead.
Recycled
For extra fragile goods, or international orders, we use 100% post-consumer waste recycled and RECYCLABLE satchels, boxes and tissue paper. After re-use, these can go into your curb-side paper recycling bin.
Care
Laundering
Organic fibres need just a little more TLC than conventional ones. Hand wash only on COLD with a gentle wool wash and lay flat to dry. Always store folded / not hung. We'll send a detailed digital care guide when you buy this garment.
Repairs
We stand by our garments + offer complimentary repairs for all A.BCH pieces. Our free repairs are for general wear and tear, all we ask is that you cover the cost of delivery or drop off to our Melbourne studio. Re-making or alterations can also be requested + will be individually quoted based on the time required.
End of Life
Recirculate
Help extend the life of A.CAT by sending or dropping it back to us for store credit – we'll even cover the shipping. Depending on its condition, we'll repair & re-sell it (as second hand), remake it into something or if it's no longer useful, we'll transform it into brand new yarns through our Recycling Program (so circular, darling).
Recycle
A.CAT was specifically designed for easy mechanical recycling and this is the preferred afterlife pathway. Send or drop it back to us for store credit, we'll even cover the shipping. Once received and assessed, the garment is washed and prepared for mechanical recycling. The yarns we create from this process will become feedstock for future A.BCH styles or go back into the recycled wool industry.
Biodegrade
A.CAT is completely biodegradable (threads and all). While we recommend sending this piece back to us so we can appropriately recycle it - as a last resort, this garment can be self-decommissioned, cut into smaller pieces and added to your home garden soil.
