The A.19 is made in-house at the A.BCH circular factory. Our entire factory and HQ operates on 100% renewable wind power and we carbon offset our energy use. The fabric is first laid and cut with minimal waste, pieces are then sewn by our team of skilled machinists. Each garment is trimmed for excess threads and pressed before being sent to you. Our operations are accredited by Ethical Clothing Australia.

100% GOTS certified organic linen, grown in France by a group of farmers who have dedicated the last 10 years to perfecting the art of organic linen farming. Scutching is performed locally, fibres are then sent to Hungary to be spun into yarn. Finally, they are sent to Belgium, where they’re woven in a C02 neutral mill. The gorgeous colour of these shorts is 100% natural as no bleaches or dyes have been used. Our Belgian supplier has been creating linen since 1864 and are recognised by The Masters of Linen.

100% GOTS certified cotton, sourced from co-operative organic markets in the Middle East. Each of these small-holder farmers process their cotton to strict environmental and social standards- as is required by GOTS certification.

100% oeko tex certifed, brushed organic cotton - notably formaldehyde free and affixed with a resin. Removal of fusing before recycling or composting is recommended due to the unknown degradability of the resin. Made in Germany, stocked and shipped from the manufacturer’s factory in Hong Kong.

100% corozo fruit seed, sourced sustainably from Panama City, Panama. Once the fruit has fallen from the tree, the seeds are collected and processed for button making. The buttons are designed, manufactured and dyed in-house by our supplier, using only non-toxic, biodegradable dyestuffs.

100% recycled PET made in-house by a manufacturer with a passion for developing sustainable alternatives for brands. This is the only part of the garment that isn’t biodegradable. There's good news! In 2019 we developed a way to make these labels in organic cotton which feature in garments from A.31 onwards.

100% organic cotton, printed with Oeko Tex 100 certified inks. The yarns are sourced in India from GOTS certified mills and are woven at our supplier-owned mill into tape. They are then whitened according to GOTS standards using oxygen based whiteners and digitally printed.

Our default packaging for local orders, home-compostable satchels have the lowest environmental impact when composted locally. Please don't throw this into your general waste bin, instead, after re-use, compost at home or find other solutions here. You can contact us immediately after placing your order to request recyclable packing instead.
For extra fragile goods, or international orders, we use 100% post-consumer waste recycled and RECYCLABLE satchels, boxes and tissue paper. After re-use, these can go into your curb-side paper recycling bin.
Organic fibres need just a little more TLC than conventional ones. Machine wash on COLD, use a delicates bag for best results and hang to dry. We'll also send a detailed digital care guide when you buy this garment.
We stand by our garments + offer complimentary repairs for all A.BCH pieces. Our free repairs are for general wear and tear, all we ask is that you cover the cost of delivery or drop off to our Melbourne studio. Re-making or alterations can also be requested + will be individually quoted based on the time required.
Help extend the life of the A.19 by sending or dropping it back to us for store credit – we'll even cover the shipping. Depending on its condition, we'll repair & re-sell it (as second hand), remake it into something or if it's no longer useful, we'll transform it into brand new yarns through our Recycling Program (so circular, darling).
With some decommissioning, the A.19 was specifically designed for easy mechanical or cellulose chemical recycling and this is the preferred afterlife pathway. Send or drop it back to us for store credit, we'll even cover the shipping. Once received and assessed, the garment is washed and prepared for mechanical recycling. The yarns we create from this process will become feedstock for future A.BCH styles.
The A.19 requires minor decommissioning (including removal of the collar, button hole placket and A.BCH A.19 label) before being ready to compost. Also, while the cellulose buttons are compostable, we would opt for re-use unless they are broken. We highly recommend sending this piece back to us so we can appropriately recycle it - however as a last resort, this garment can be self-decommissioned, cut into smaller pieces and added to your home composting system.
