Product Lifecycle
Make
Description
The A.01 is made by the good people at LCN, a family run factory in the inner west of Melbourne. The team of cutters and machinists cut the fabric, construct, press and trim the A.01 with the highest quality finishes. The entire making process is independently accredited by Ethical Clothing Australia.

Fabric
Description
100% GOTS certified organic cotton. The fibre is grown, processed and spun in India, and is certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) at every stage from harvest to finishing to meet strict environmental, toxicity and social standards. Spun yarns are sent to Australia where they are knitted into jersey fabric by ABMT Textiles, one of our preferred local knitting mills. The jersey is then dyed locally with GOTS approved low impact dyes.

Thread
Description
100% GOTS certified cotton, sourced from co-operative organic markets in the Middle East. Each of these small-holder farmers process their cotton to strict environmental and social standards- as is required by GOTS certification.

Trim
Description
100% certified organic cotton tape. GOTS certified cotton is grown on various organic cotton farms in Turkey which are spun into yarns. These yarns are purchased by Taishobeski who sells the yarns to our supplier. The yarns are then woven into beautiful, fine tapes in Japan by our manufacturer and dyed/whitened locally according to GOTS standards.

Label
Description
100% recycled PET made in-house by a manufacturer with a passion for developing sustainable alternatives for brands. This is the only part of the garment that isn’t biodegradable. There's good news! In 2019 we developed a way to make these labels in organic cotton which feature in garments from A.31 onwards.

Care Label
Description
100% organic cotton, printed with Oeko Tex 100 certified inks. The yarns are sourced in India from GOTS certified mills and are woven at our supplier-owned mill into tape. They are then whitened according to GOTS standards using oxygen based whiteners and digitally printed.

Packaging
Compost
Our default packaging for local orders, home-compostable satchels have the lowest environmental impact when composted locally. Please don't throw this into your general waste bin, instead, after re-use, compost at home or find other solutions here. You can contact us immediately after placing your order to request recyclable packing instead.
Recycled
For extra fragile goods, or international orders, we use 100% post-consumer waste recycled and RECYCLABLE satchels, boxes and tissue paper. After re-use, these can go into your curb-side paper recycling bin.
Care
Laundering
Organic fibres need just a little more TLC than conventional ones. Machine wash on COLD and use a delicates bag for best results. Always hang to dry. We'll send you a more detailed digital care guide via email when you buy this garment.
Repairs
We stand by our garments and offer complimentary repairs for all A.BCH pieces. Our free repairs are for general wear and tear (you'll just have to cover delivery or drop off to our Melbourne studio, the cleaner the better)! Re-making or alterations will be individually quoted, at a reasonable charge.
End of Life
Recirculate
Help extend the life of the A.01 by sending or dropping it back to us for store credit – we'll even cover the shipping. Depending on its condition, we'll repair & re-sell it (as second hand), remake it into something or if it's no longer useful, we'll transform it into brand new yarns through our Recycling Program (so circular, darling).
Recycle
The A.01 was specifically designed for easy mechanical or cellulose chemical recycling. Send or drop it back to us for store credit, we'll even pay for shipping. Once received and assessed, the garment is washed and prepared for mechanical recycling. The yarns we create from this process will become feedstock for future A.BCH styles.
Biodegrade
If returning is unlikely (you're busy with a climate rally or living off the grid), the black A.01 is also biodegradable. After a long life of use, repair and re-use, simply cut off the A.BCH A.01 tag (not biodegradable) before cutting the rest of the garment into smaller pieces and burying in your garden soil. The A.01 should biodegrade entirely within 4-8 weeks, depending on conditions.
