Description
The Cutpiece Fleecy Hood is created from the selvedges and offcuts of our popular A.33, A.37 & A.62 fleecy styles.
We keep every offcut which we sort by size and colour. These are re-cut and placed by hand and stitched to form new textiles from resources that would usually be thrown away. The A.CFH is made in-house at the A.BCH circular factory.
We call this textile production method 'Cutpiece' – a regenerated textile that is entirely unique to the individual garment and owner. Commissions for this style are welcome, as are customisation requests.

Product Story
Make
Description
The A.CFH is made to order, in-house at the A.BCH circular factory. Our entire production and HQ operations rely on 100% renewable wind power and we carbon offset our energy use. Your fabric is first created by hand before being laid and cut with minimal waste (however all new waste can go back into this very process). Pieces are then sewn by our team of skilled machinists. Each garment is quality checked and pressed before being sent to you. Our operations are accredited by Ethical Clothing Australia.

Fabric
Description
100% certified organic cotton that's brushed on the inside to a soft and super fluffy fleece. The fibre is grown, processed and spun in India, and is certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) at every stage from processing to finishing to meet strict environmental, toxicity and social standards. The yarns are then knitted in Australia at one of the world's finest knitting mills. From here the fabric is scoured, and then left in its natural state, unbleached and undyed.

Thread
Description
100% GOTS certified 3ply cotton - also un-dyed, sourced from small organic farms just outside the village of Mohancot in the Jhabua district, India. Each of these small-holder farmers combine their crops for ginning and spinning, which is processed to strict environmental and social standards- as is required by GOTS certification. We source the finished threads from our wholesaler in the USA.

Label
Description
Our labels are woven un-dyed and black OCS organic cotton, grown in the Xinjiang province in China. The labels were created after we searched high and low for a supplier who would be willing to weave organic cotton into labels for us, and we finally found one thanks to our wholesale partner.

Packaging
Compost
Our default packaging for local orders, home-compostable satchels have the lowest environmental impact when composted locally. Please don't throw this into your general waste bin, instead, after re-use, compost at home or find other solutions here. You can contact us immediately after placing your order to request recyclable packing instead.
Recycled
For extra fragile goods, or international orders, we use 100% post-consumer waste recycled and RECYCLABLE satchels, boxes and tissue paper. After re-use, these can go into your curb-side paper recycling bin.
Care
Laundering
Treat with care by attending to stains promptly, and storing folded, out of direct sun. Turn inside-out and machine wash on COLD in a delicates bag or hand wash. For best results, gently pull into shape while wet and hang to dry. We'll send you a detailed digital care guide when you buy this garment.
Repairs
We stand by our garments + offer complimentary repairs for all A.BCH pieces. Our free repairs are for general wear and tear, all we ask is that you cover the cost of delivery or drop off to our Melbourne studio. Re-making or alterations can also be requested + will be individually quoted based on the time required.
End of Life
Recirculate
Help extend the life of the A.CFH by sending or dropping it back to us for store credit – we'll even cover the shipping. Depending on its condition, we'll repair & re-sell it (as second hand), remake it into something or if it's no longer useful, we'll transform it into brand new yarns through our Recycling Program (so circular, darling).
Recycle
The A.CFH was specifically designed for easy mechanical or cellulose chemical recycling and this is our preferred afterlife pathway. Send or drop it back to us for store credit, we'll even cover the shipping. Once received and assessed, the garment is washed and prepared for mechanical recycling. The yarns we create from this process will become feedstock for future A.BCH styles.
Compost
If returning is unlikely (you're busy with a climate rally or living off the grid), the A.CFH is compostable. After a long life of use, repair and re-use, simply cut the garment into smaller pieces and add to your home composting system or garden soil.
